Where can I find a list of NLB libraries and/or their opening hours which are near my house?
Please refer to our List of Library Locations for details. The library information will include details such as location, opening hours of the library and its bookdrop (for book returning).

Where can I find more information on library membership and borrowing privileges?
Information such as:
  1. Membership Registration (e.g. Types of Membership, Membership Charges, Card Fees, Loss of Membership Card, Updating of Membership Particulars)
  2. Borrowing Privileges (e.g Renewal, Reminder Service )
  3. Fees and Charges (e.g. Overdue Fines, Lost Items, Reservations, Modes of Payment)

What information or services are available on the NLB corporate website?
NLB (National Library Board Singapore), the statutory agency that oversees the National Library Singapore and Singapore's islandwide network of Public Libraries, will continue to provide corporate-oriented information and services to corporations, business and library partners, media and potential employees on its corporate website.

You can also gain access to common library services through the website, which includes the Library Guide, information on library locations and opening hours, calendar of events, library catalogue, checking your membership account and connecting to our eResources.

What is the difference between the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library and Central Public Library located in the National Library Building?
Both the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library and the Central Public Library seek to inspire library users, young and old, generalist and specialist, in their pursuit of learning. However, each library has its own specific function and purpose.

The Lee Kong Chian Reference Library provides research and reference materials and services to researchers, academics, scholars, government departments, businesses and other information seekers.

The Central Public Library is a public lending library and caters to the broader user group of children, youths and adults, with its extensive collection of materials, both fiction and non-fiction, ranging from mainstream materials to award winning literature in all four official languages here.

Where does my donation go to?

If you have selected a specific cause to donate to, the funds will be dedicated for that specified cause.

If I do not wish to donate money, is there another way I can contribute?
If you do not wish to donate money, you can also volunteer your time and skills. Click on Volunteer to find out more. Alternatively, you can donate old historical materials and documents to build our local heritage collection. Click on Donate to find out more.

Why is NLB setting up a donation section?

NLB is setting up a donation section on our corporate website so that it can engage Singaporeans in providing community support for libraries. It is a platform whereby members of the public can make cash and non-cash contributions for community causes and to help build our heritage collection. In doing so, Singaporeans can take pride and ownership in the nation’s libraries that offer free services and programmes for the benefit of everyone.

What is a tax-deductible receipt?
As an Institution of Public Character (IPC). NLB can issue a tax-deductible receipt for your donation. For individual donors, this receipt is for your retention. You do not have to claim the deduction in your tax form, if you have given your NRIC/FIN number. The deduction will be automatically included in your tax assessment.  For other donors, please retain this receipt for submission to the Comptroller of Income Tax.

How will I know if my donation has been transacted?
    
When you receive a ‘Thank you’ acknowledgement message, it indicates that your donation request has been transacted successfully

How much of every dollar that I give go towards the causes?

100% of every donation dollar received will go toward supporting the causes.
13.
What is the minimum sum that I can donate?

Minimum donation is SGD$5.
