If your request for inspection of a non-electronic case file is allowed, you will be given half an hour between 9.00am to 5.30pm to inspect the file at Level 2 of the Legal Registry. An extension of time may be granted on a case-by-case basis, and is dependent on several factors such as the availability of the eLitigation terminal, the serviceability of microfilm readers and the number of people in the queue.
If your request for inspection of an electronic case file is allowed, you will attend at the LawNet Service Bureau for inspection subject to their terms and conditions.
Some documents in a court file may be barred from inspection. There may be various reasons for this; for example, a Judge or Judicial Officer may order that documents which pertain to confidential issues may only be viewed by the parties to the action.
For Judge’s or Judicial Officer’s minute sheets, please request for a certified true copy of a transcript of such minute sheets.
For copies of documents in an electronic case file, the documents that may be inspected can be downloaded. A non-eLitigation account law firm or LIP requiring copies of the downloaded documents at the LawNet Service Bureau may request for printing of the same. Applicable printing fees are payable. Where a Certified True Copy of a court document is required, a Request for Certified True Copy will have to be filed via eLitigation. Subject to the approval of the Registrar and upon payment of the applicable fees, the Certified True Copy can be collected at Level 2 of the Legal Registry.
For copies of documents in a non-electronic case file, after inspection of the case file and court documents at Level 2 of the Legal Registry, a requestor requiring a copy and/or Certified True Copy of a court document may complete the Request for a Copy / Certified True Copy and submit a hard copy at Level 2 of the Legal Registry for approval of the Registrar. Applicable printing fees are payable.
