1.	Must we contribute SDL for foreign employees?
	Yes. SDL contributions are payable for all foreign employees up to the first $4,500 of their gross monthly remuneration. Back to top

2.	Do I need to pay the SDL during bonus months?
	Yes. The bonus should be added to the monthly salary and the total sum will be used to determine the SDL to be contributed by the employer for the employee. Back to top

3.	Can the SDL be deducted from the employee’s salary?
	No. Employers should not deduct SDL from the employee’s gross monthly salary. SDL is a contribution by the employer under the SDL Act. Back to top

4.	Why should I contribute SDL for my employees when I do not submit any claims for Skills Development Fund (SDF)?
	It is a statutory requirement for all employers to contribute SDL for their employees. There is no link between the collection of SDL and the disbursement of SDF training assistance. SDF training assistance is given as incentives to employers who invest in the skills upgrading of their workers. 5.	I am already paying the Foreign Workers Levy (FWL). Do I still need to pay the SDL?
	Yes. The SDL is different from the Foreign Workers Levy (FWL). Payment of SDL should also be indicated separately from payment of FWL in your payment to CPF Board. Back to top
