Why are regular testing of the public warning system needed?
It is to ensure the Public Warning System (PWS) is ready to alert the public in an emergency.

When is the PWS testing done?
1st day of every month, at 12.00 noon.

Do you know what type of signal is used for the PWS monthly sounding?
PWS Chime Test Signal.

Is the public expected to react during the PWS testing?
No.
5.
Besides the PWS monthly sounding, do you know which are the additional days in a year where PWS is sounded islandwide?
15 February (Total Defence Day) and 15 September (Civil Defence Day) each year.

What are the signals of the PWS?
The Public Warning Signals are:
"Alarm" Signal - these are wailing blasts that are sounded when an air raid or shelling is imminent. You should move to a shelter immediately.
"All Clear" Signal - these are continuous blasts that are sounded when the threat is over. You can leave the shelter.
"Important Message" Signal - these are pulsating blasts that are sounded to alert the population to an important broadcast on the radio. You should tune in to any local FM radio station.
