How can I check which Institution an inmate is housed in?
|
|
All female inmates are housed in Changi Women's Prison (CWP). Male inmates under remand are housed in Queenstown Remand Prison (QRP). Drug offenders admitted for medical observation / examination are housed in Sembawang DRC (SD) during the admission phase. See Table 3 above for a list of the institutions and their contact numbers.

How do I apply for visit rights if I am not a family member of the inmate?

Non-family visitors accompanied by the Visit Card holder may be allowed to visit certain categories of inmates, on a case-by-case basis and subject to approval by the Prison authorities.

Can I write letters to an inmate?
|
|
Yes. All standard materials including greeting cards and postcards, are subject to screening and approval by the Prison authorities. Non-standard materials will be rejected immediately, such as those of the following nature: musical, perfumed, pop-ups, irregular-shaped, unusually large, glossy surface, pasted with neo-prints/stickers, printed with personal photographs, etc.

What documents must I bring along for the visit?
|
|
Your Visit Card, NRIC or Passport and/or Work Permit and letters (if any) are required at every visit session. Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates are required for relationship verification purposes during the first registration. See Table 1 for the types of documents to be produced.
