Why is there a need for two more websites?
|
| |
|
In the case of NLB, we have identified two distinct and large groups of users who regularly access information or services provided by either the National Library or our public libraries. Therefore we have grouped and packaged the information and services used by each group of customers into the two new library websites.
Specifically, the National Library Singapore website (www.nl.sg) is created to better served library users with reference, research, heritage and bibliographical needs. It will also feature information on programmes and events held at the National Library.
The Public Libraries Singapore website (www.pl.sg) will serve the reading, borrowing and lifelong learning needs of the larger population. Library users will also have quick and easy access to their accounts, enquiry and advisory services and information on programmes for all ages at the various public libraries across Singapore.
We hope these new websites would add convenience to our customers and provide a way for them to learn about the distinct roles of the National Library and the public libraries.
NLB (National Library Board Singapore), the statutory agency that oversees the National Library Singapore and Singapore's islandwide network of Public Libraries, will continue to provide corporate-oriented information and services to corporations, business and library partners, media and potential employees on its corporate website www.nlb.gov.sg
