What are the factors that you look for in teaching applicants?
You should have strong content knowledge in the subject(s) you wish to teach, a keen interest in teaching, good personal attributes and values, good communication skills and the ability to relate to the young. You must also meet the National Institute of Education's entry requirements for the teacher training programme.
How is my pay rate as a flexi-adjunct teacher (FAJT) determined? Is it based on academic qualifications?
If you were formerly an Education Officer (EO) with the Ministry of Education (MOE), your pay rate will generally be based on your last substantive grade prior to leaving the Education Service. If you are not a former EO employed by MOE, your pay rate will be based on your profile, and will not be determined solely by your academic qualifications. You will be able to view your pay rate in REMS when your registration is successful.
What is the minimum required qualification for the Scheme for Relief Educators (SRE) / Relief Allied Educator (READ) Scheme?
To register for the Scheme for Relief Educators (SRE), you must meet one of the following criteria:
Possess a degree obtained on an on-campus basis; or
Currently an undergraduate pursuing a degree on an on-campus basis.
If you are not a graduate or undergraduate, you may register for the Relief Allied Educator (READ) Scheme if you meet one of the following criteria:
Possess a diploma from a local polytechnic, NAFA or LaSalle College of Arts; or
Possess an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or NUS High School Diploma; or
Possess at least 2 GCE 'A' Level/H2 and 2 GCE 'AO' Level passes/H1 passes (including General Paper); or
Possess 5 GCE 'O' level passes (including English and Mathematics) with L1B4 of <= 26 points
If you are currently on the Integrated Programme (IP) and do not possess GCE ‘O’ level qualification, please provide your Year 4 IP results under ‘GCE ’O’ level qualification’ in your application.
Am I paid for public holiday as a flexi-adunct teachers (FAJT) ?
You will receive public holiday payment when a public holiday falls within their appointment period. The public holiday pay rate is pro-rated based on the weekly/ committee workload as stated in your Letter of Appointment.
How do I look for vacancies in schools as a relief educator (SRE) / Relief Allied Educator (READ)?
When your application for registration has been approved by MOE, you may proceed to approach schools directly for assignments.
