What should I do if I experience poor mobile coverage?
|
| |
|
You should contact your mobile operator for assistance on methods to improve mobile coverage. For technical matters such as service coverage, the service providers are in the best position to provide assistance. The operators will investigate and make reasonable efforts to address these individual issues and IDA will generally leave it to the operators to negotiate with end users to decide how best to go about improving mobile service coverage.
IDA has also put in place a set of minimum Quality of Service (QoS) standards to ensure good mobile phone service coverage in Singapore. Specifically, IDA requires mobile operators to ensure more than 99% nation-wide outdoor service coverage and more than 85% in-building service coverage for each building.
Provision of service coverage in some areas, such as within lifts, storerooms, carparks located at basement two and below, toilets, and warehouses, is not mandated by IDA. For such areas, IDA leaves it to the operators to negotiate commercially with the building/home owners to install the necessary equipment to provide better service coverage.
