How did data.gov.sg come about?
data.gov.sg was first conceived as part of the eGov2015 Masterplan and is a key project under the Masterplan’s “Co-creating for higher value” thrust. data.gov.sg is to enable and catalyse the development of innovative applications by the private and people sectors, and support the Masterplan’s vision to be a collaborative government that co-creates and connects with our people.
Who is behind data.gov.sg?
data.gov.sg is a whole-of-government government initiative started and led by MOF and IDA. SLA and DOS, being the key owners of spatial and statistical data, respectively are key partners for this initiative.
data.gov.sg brings together data from 50 government ministries and agencies.
What are the objectives of data.gov.sg? Who are its target audiences?
As the first-stop portal for the general public to search for and access publicly-available government data, data.gov.sg seeks to:-
a. Provide convenient access to publicly-available government data by the general public;
b. Catalyse the development of innovative applications and services by the private sector, including start-ups and students; and
c. Facilitate analysis and research by academics and researchers.
