What are the admissions criteria for application to our local autonomous universities (AUs)?
Admissions to the local autonomous universities (AUs) are decided by the institutions, based on the principles of merit and open competition among eligible applicants.
To help applicants make more informed decisions, the AUs publish the indicative grade profiles of both A-level and polytechnic applicants who were offered places in the previous year on their respective admission websites. These grade profiles vary from year to year depending on the number and quality of the applicants in each year.

Are our universities admitting international students at the expense of Singaporeans?
Admissions to the autonomous universities are based on the principles of merit and open competition among all eligible applicants. Places are planned and set aside for Singaporeans first. International students, who are subject to more stringent admissions criteria, are admitted over and above the places set aside for Singaporeans, and are subject to a cap.
What are other options for obtaining a university education besides the Autonomous Universities?
Besides the programmes offered by our Autonomous Universities, students may consider pursuing publicly-funded part-time or full-time degree programmes offered by SIM University (UniSIM). UniSIM has a wide range of part-time programmes in various disciplines, which include Business, Human Development and Social Services, and Science and Technology.
MOE also subsidises selected degree programmes that the arts institutions (i.e. the LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA)) offer in partnership with overseas universities, such as NAFA’s Bachelor of Music programme with the Royal College of Music and LASALLE’s degree programmes with Goldsmiths, University of London.
MOE's fee subsidies are generally for first-time degree students.
